greatest P value is pepitope. The relation between vaccine effectiveness and pepitope is given by E ¼2:47 pepitope þ 0:47 ð1Þ The A(H3N2) vaccine effectiveness with pepitope ¼0 is 47% (perfect match) and the vaccine effectiveness is >0 for pepitope <0.19 [Munoz and Deem, 2005;Gupta et al., 2006]. For A(H3N2) influenza viruses, the pepitope method offers a prediction of vaccine effectiveness that has a higher correlation coefficient with vaccine effectiveness in humans than distances derived by other methods [Gupta et al., 2006]. By considering only the substitutions that occur in the epitopes, the values of the pepitope were calculat-ed, between the influenza virus strains which were representative of the dominant lineages circulating inCorsica, and the vaccine strain of each corresponding season (2011–2012 and 2012–2013). Percentages of the perfect match vaccine effectiveness were estimat-ed by using Equation (1) [Munoz and Deem, 2005; Gupta et al., 2006].
