2.1 Differential protection (ANSI 87L)
2.1.1 Principle and current transformer
connection
The differential protection function of the 7SD600
recognizes short-circuits in the protection range
by comparing the summation currents detected at
both ends of the line. In order to do this, the sec
ondary phase currents from the primary current
transformers are fed with variable weighting
(number of windings) into the summation cur
rent transformer which combines them to pro
duce a summation current.
