Antimicrobial activityAntibacterial activity was determined by the zone of inhi- bition test using S. pyogenes (Gram-positive bacteria) andE. coli (Gram-negative bacteria). Overnight cultures were prepared. A 100-µL aliquot of the overnight culture of the bacteria (1 × 108 CFU/mL) was spread onto Luria– Bertani agar plates, and 20 mg of the lyophilized hydrogelwas placed on the plates, followed by incubation for 24 h at 37°C.
