Easier to maneuver that way. I also didn't like too thick of pipes when I smoked, they had a tendancy to make me gag. Stick with the normal sized pipes.Last edited by SB1981; 19-01-2013 at 04:49. #3 19-01-2013, 04:37 Impulse420 Silver Member Join Date: 28-08-2010Male from CanadaPosts: 60 Re: small pipes Vs. long pipesInteresting to know! he has only used the long ones in the past so he will definitely be giving the little guy a whirl if his magical friend ever wakes up and sees him #4 19-01-2013, 11:46 cellblockearth Silver Member Join Date: 03-01-2013Male from United StatesPosts: 38 Re: small pipes Vs. long pipesI like the short ones for ease of cleaning. A half of stem of baking soda , shake it into the bowl , add water til thick paste consistency , q-tip clean , run thick paper towel up stem and into bowl as tight as you can get it and rotate both directions , rinse bowl thoroughly and q-tip and paper towel dry. Cleanest bowl you will ever smoke out of. I have a hard time getting enough paper towel into the long stems to clean properly. Thats where my choice in stem length comes from. Sometimes long is all thats available so it has to work but I can never get it as clean as I like. Just my $02 worth.Post Quality Evaluations:Good actionable instructions for easy clean to back up opinion on original question #5 19-01-2013, 13:01 hotdogfrenchfries Newbie Join Date: 11-03-201233 y/o Male from USA - CaliforniaPosts: 145Re: small pipes Vs. long pipes^^ If that's the case, you can easily cut it. Grab a file (metal) or a knife with tiny teeth, or something similar, and start filing the pipe where you want to cut it. You need to basically create a scratch across about half of the stem, in the spot where you want it to break. While you do this, keep this area wet by putting water on it.Now grab a paper towel, and wet it. Make sure there is water inside the scratch you created. The pipe should break off cleanly where you filed it.Pardon the bad explanation, it is late and english is not my 1st language. This method is the best method I know for cutting any kind of boroscillicate, glass, or pyrex tubing. I have cut tubing hundreds of times that way, and it is faster than using tools that were actually made for this purpose. #6 08-09-2014, 05:48 mynameDjango Newbie Join Date: 04-09-2014Male from United StatesPosts: 10 Re: small pipes Vs. long pipesReviving this thread to get some more replies because I have the same question but want more! When I thought about getting a longer pipe I thought it would be easier to light because it's not so close to your face, easier to hold (not that a small one is hard), and bigger pipes just look cooler.I wonder if a larger pipe, longer or wider, changes the way it hits, if at all? My guess is it doesn't make much of a difference. Does anyone swear by longer pipes? Why don't you ever switch it up? Or do you?Do you have a ceremonial meth pipe that you only use on certain occasions?Haha last one was a joke but maybe you do... #7 09-09-2014, 04:03 We_Like_To_Experiment Silver Member Join Date: 12-04-2014Female from United StatesPosts: 78 Re: small pipes Vs. long pipesWhen my guy and I smoke, it depends on mood really. We typically use a regular water bong like you'd use for smoking pot, with an attachment you can get that slides in where the bowl piece normally goes. Rather than water, we use flavored gatorade or powerade. I like grape best. HOWEVER, the other day we were at the smoke shop and I saw a bubble pipe that is about three times the size of a regular little pipe. Normally I don't like pipes, but this doesn't hit like that. I've been using that mainly. #8 09-09-2014, 04:11 Nosferatus Silver Member Join Date: 13-11-201226 y/o Male from CanadaPosts: 1,837 Re: small pipes Vs. long pipes^^I liked the regular sized pipes, the one's about four inches long with an inch wide bowl. #9 09-09-2014, 04:11 mynameDjango Newbie Join Date: 04-09-2014Male from United StatesPosts: 10 Re: small pipes Vs. long pipesHaha that's awesome! I will definitely get a bigger pipe next time which hopefully isn't soon because I cannot stop breaking them.. #10 25-10-2014, 16:49 AKAMike Newbie Join Date: 22-06-201455 y/o Male from United StatesPosts: 6 Re: small pipes Vs. long pipesEach pipe has its advantages. The smaller 4" fits in your pocket. With the longer 6" , its easier for me to judge the distance from flame to bowl. Personal preference, but I like the weight of the longer pipe in my fingers.
