Some businesses now say that no one

Some businesses now say that no one can smoke cigarettes in any of their offices. Some Governments have banned smoking in all public places. This is a good idea, but it also takes away some of our freedom.
Do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, the most noticeable issue drawing certain attention from the society is the matter of smoking. To reduce smoking rate, “No smoking” signs are getting more and more popular in public places. Moreover, not only governments but some businesses also prohibit smoking in any of their offices. Even though many people support this idea, some still think it takes away some of their freedom. My firm belief is that stopping smoking in public places is really a wise idea in that this is to take more care of people rather than to restrict their freedom.
To begin with the issue of health, smoking is a serious health hazard; thus, banning smoking in public places is a good help to all people, not only heavy smokers but passive smokers as well. Some statistics reveal that there is the strong link between smoking and cancer. Although a number of smoking people have noticed this relation, they still can not give up smoking. Therefore, “No smoking” in public places helps them reduce their cigarette consumption. As a matter of fact, some researches illustrate that the cancer rate in passive smokers is much higher than that in active smokers. It is completely unfair.
Furthermore, smoking does harm to not only human health but also living environment. To be more specific, it gives rise to air pollution, fire accidents and so on. In fact, smoking is one of the main causes leading to air pollution in offices and public places. Just imagine how polluted the air is when people smoke in crowded places or cramped offices, not to mention that it will make passive smokers around feel really uncomfortable. It is also claimed that smoking results in a large number of forest fires, house fires and factory fires which cost million dollars every year. Because of this reason, smoking should be banned in public and working places.
Those who are opposed to smoking prohibition in public places usually put forth an argument that banning smoking takes away some of people’s freedom. In fact, many governments and businesses do not allow people to smoke in public places or in offices, yet smokers should be free to smoke at their homes or in some private places. Furthermore, some even suggest that governments create some smoking areas so that smokers have a chance to ease their addiction, without disturbing the others.
All in all, banning smoking in public places or in offices is a really wise idea. Hence, government officials should legalize this idea simply because it will do more good than harm in most cases.
