SURVEY REQUIREMENTS
The main survey requirement will be the preparation of an accurate topographic survey of each potentially unstable area, extending far enough above and below all the earth slopes involved to include all drainage features (such as ditches, ponds, waterways, and rice paddies) which could affect surface runoff cater and/or the subsoil water table in the area under investigation and all features which could affect the loading on or support of the slopes. This may require several cross section surveys at each potentially unstable area. The Contractor will also be required to obtain all available historical data on any past movements or scour of the slopes under investigation, including the relevant dates, location and extent of the movements, the results of all relevant past studies, construction details of any past stabilization works either proposed or actually implemented (such as improved drainage, slope flattening, gabion placement, revetment construction), or potentially destabilizing works that have been implemented (such as pavement grade raising, slope steepening by widening only the top of the embankment or by excavating the toe of the slope, and the addition of the water sources above the slope), and records or reports concerning the effects of any such previously implemented works. In addition, he will be required to obtain all available rainfall and flood records relevant to the investigation area, including information concerning the highest past food levels at the site, flood levels and rate of drop of flood waters at times of past observed slope movements, and the time of year and duration of use of any irrigation canals, fish ponds, or other potential sources of water in the vicinity of the slopes (particularly at times of previously observed slope movements). The Contractor may also be required in some instances to carry out subsoil investigations involving test bore drilling, deep sounding with penetrometers and/or shear vanes, test pit excavations for undisturbed soil sampling, etc.
REPORTING
In addition to the drawings prepared under paragraph 2 above, the Contractor may be required to prepare for each stability investigation area additional separate plan and cross-section drawings as required to support the Engineer's design of remedial measures. All other data and records obtained by the Contractor relevant to the investigation shall be submitted to the Engineer in their full and original form together with the Contractor's summary of relevant facts extracted from the available records.
10. MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT
Survey and Investigation shall be paid as a Lump sum, the contractor shall prepare the outline of the work and submit the Employer and The Consultant for approval.
