In the UK, the TV is often on all day, and teenagers watch it before and after school. More than half of children have a television in their bedroom, and about a third also have a video recorder. A lot of people are worried that today’s British teenagers don’t get enough exercise. Today, less than half of teenagers play team sports, compared to more than 75% in the 1970s. More than 80% of teenagers in the UK now prefer watching sport on TV to actually playing it.
