The result of the FDI-exports interaction is consistent with the theoretical
inclinations of the Bhagwati hypothesis but it is also in line with the findings of
Kohpaiboon (2003) and Hsiao and Hsiao (2006). Intensifying the integration of FDI
and export related initiatives are therefore the sure way to go. It is therefore
recommended that the channelling of FDI into areas of comparative advantage
(such as export-oriented industrial, agricultural and other productive sectors of
the economy) be intensified if the nation is to wholly harness the benefits of FDI
activities. A clear manifestation of government’s commitment to this initiative is
therefore crucial in this effort
