Fish Oil Supplementation. Cardioprotective fatty acidsfound in some fatty fishes are plentiful in diets of Scandinaviansand American Eskimos. The most common dietary sourcesare EPA—eicosapentaenoic acid, ALA—alpha-linoleic acid, and DHA—docosahexaenoic acid. With proclamations thatsupplementation with these fatty acids would prevent inflammatory-mediated atherogenesis, it was not a quantum leap toposit that they might also prevent preeclampsia. Unfortunately, randomized trials conducted thus far have shown no such benefits(Makrides, 2006; Olafsdottir, 2006; Olsen, 2000; Zhou,2012a).Exercise. There are a few studies done to assess the protectiveeffects of physical activity on preeclampsia. In their systematicreview, Kasawara and associates (2012) reported a trend towardrisk reduction with exercise. More research is needed in thisarea (Staff, 2014).
