South Vietnam's Armed Forces Council on March 27 approved the country's new constitution and ordered that it be put into effect on Saturday, April 1, 1967. A communique issued by the Council also announced that national elections for a President, a Vice President and the Senate will be held on September 1, 1967. Members of the House of Representatives
of the National Assembly will be elected on October 1, 1967, the communique said.
