It would be stupid not to call the

It would be stupid not to call the police. That’s what normal people do when they’re in trouble. Dial 9-1-1. It’s been ingrained in me since I learned what a phone was. But I also had no doubt that Seth would be able to keep his word. Even though he was just armed with a baton, he easily took down two men with guns who were double his size.
He took a risk to help me today, and I didn’t want to cause any trouble for him. He kept glancing back at me, waiting for an answer.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but fine. I won’t say anything. But if we see them again, I’m going to the cops,” I said, firmly.
“Sounds good. You can’t tell anyone. Not even your boyfriend.”
I just rolled my eyes. I didn’t even bother refuting it anymore. He had long since run that joke straight into the ground.
“Hold on tight,” he said.
I latched my hands together as he squeezed between two minivans. I was too blinded by terror earlier to realize how skillfully he weaved between cars. To an inattentive observer, he probably looked like another reckless guy on a motorcycle, but I could tell by his precision that he had complete control.
How was he so good at everything?
As we got closer to my house, I gave him more specific directions. He pulled up onto my driveway. Right next to Luke’s car.
I jumped off. “Oh crap, I forgot to call him back.”
“A little overprotective, isn’t he?” Seth said, eyeing the car. It looked old and decrepit next to his sleek motorcycle.
“Don’t be an ass. I really could’ve used some protection today,” I said, unlocking the front door.
Seth rolled his eyes and said muttered, “Yes, if only there was someone who could’ve shown up to help you earlier.”
I pushed him into the doorway and locked up behind us. “Oh, shove it.”
“Rory, is that you?” someone called from inside the house. Just hearing his voice calmed me. Luke rushed over, completing ignoring Seth, and pulled me towards him. “Where the hell have you been? I called you so many times!”
“Um.” I looked over at Seth. He shook his head slightly, reminding me to keep my mouth shut for the time being. “Just hanging out with Seth.”
It was clear from his expression that he hadn’t even noticed Seth earlier. “What? How do you guys even know each other?”
“I was giving her a ride home since I only live a couple minutes away from here,” Seth said nonchalantly. His hands were shoved inside his pockets.
I glanced at him suspiciously. He didn’t once mention that the whole way back.
“You drive a motorcycle, don’t you?”
“And?”
“Rory rode home on your bike?” Luke repeated. A hint of protectiveness crept into his voice.
“Well I certainly wasn’t going to give her a piggyback ride.”
“Will it kill you to cut back on the sarcasm?” I asked.
“It just might.”
Luke was already looking me up and down, checking for signs that I had broken something. “Why are your hands like that?” he said, taking them into his own. “What happened?”
There were scrapes on my palm from when one of the men shoved me and I ate pavement. There were still small pebbles wedged inside the cuts. “I fell. It’s really not a big deal.”

Nó trông cũ và nát bên cạnh xe gắn máy kiểu dáng đẹp của mình.“Don’t be an ass.
