Bacillus subtilis  has  round  to  irregular  colonies with  a 
dull, granular, cream to brownish surface (Fig. 14.11). It is 
variably haemolytic on blood agar. Active spreading of the 
colonies  can occur on agar with a moist  surface. Bacillus
subtilis is Gram-positive in smears made from young colo-
nies.  The  cells  are  0.6–0.8  ×  2–3  µm  in  size  and  the 
endospores, which are widespread in the environment, are 
ellipsoidal,  central  and  do  not  bulge  the  sporangium. 
Bacillus licheniformis  colonies  are  opaque,  dull,  rough, 
wrinkled,  strongly  adherent  to  the  agar  and  commonly 
display hair-like outgrowths (Fig. 14.12).  It  is named  for 
the  similarity  between  the  colonies  and  the  appearance   
of  lichen.  Some  strains  are  haemolytic.  The  cells  and 
endospores are similar to those of B. subtilis.

Bacillus subtilis có vòng khuẩn lạc thường xuyên với một

variably tan máu trên môi trường thạch máu. Hoạt động truyền bá của các 
thuộc địa có thể xảy ra trên môi trường thạch với một bề mặt ẩm ướt. Bacillus
subtilis là vi khuẩn Gram dương phết kính làm từ trẻ colo-
các công. Các tế bào là 0,6-0,8 × 2-3 mm trong kích thước và 
endospores, được phổ biến rộng rãi trong môi trường, là 
elip, trung tâm và không bị lồi ra bọc bào tử. 
Bacillus licheniformis thuộc địa là đục, ngu si đần độn, thô ráp, 
nhăn nheo, bám chặt mạnh mẽ thạch và thường 
hiển thị outgrowths tóc giống như (Hình. 14,12). Nó được đặt tên cho 
sự giống nhau giữa các thuộc địa và sự xuất hiện   
của địa y. Một số chủng là tán huyết. Các tế bào và 
endospores là tương tự như của B. subtilis.
