The object of this chapter is to analytically determinethe behavioral characteristics of hollow-core, prestressedplank diaphragms. These are defined as: 1) Initialstiffness, 2) First Major Event load, and 3) Limit stateload. The theoretical development is based on the edge zoneconcept, [25,27,28] and the geometry and equilibrium of theplanks. Finite element analysis was performed to validate theassumed stress distribution between adjacent planks as will bediscussed later. Comparisons of the analytical andexperimental results are presented to verify the analysistechniques.
