The leisure industry is growing rap

The leisure industry is growing rapidly. The active role of modern technology in people’s
leisure lives nowadays has made them less creative. Do you agree or disagree?
Over the past few decades, science and technology has developed rapidly. Thanks to the
invention of the Internet and modern devices., people nowadays can enjoy more leisure time
activities than previous generation did. Many adopt a view that the mushrooming leisure industry
has made people less creative; however, in my opinion, it is not always the case.
Firstly, it is important to recognize thatmany games enable players to broaden their horizons. It
is common that by simulating real life conditions, some online games provide experiences of
dealing with difficulties, thereby exercising various tactics. Not only do they bring

entertainment values, but also enhance player’s intelligence.A good case in this point is the
game known as Sudoku which is popular on the Internet. This game has been regarded as a mean
of recreation, and a method of training patience, consistency, as well as strong suit with
numbers. Therefore, labeling leisure activities as factorsthat make people less creative is a grave
mistake.
Secondly, creativity and critical thinking ability are entrained significantwhen people access to
various information sources. At present time, browsing the Internet, watching movie, TV could be
considered as entertainment activities, and knowledge enhancement. In fact, because of plethora of
information sources, viewers usually challenge the honesty, creditability of newspapers,
periodicals in order to avoid dissemination of misguiding opinion. Through this activity, viewers
are equipping themselves critical thinking ability, information analysis ability. For example,
exaggeration and downplaying of the fact, or even twisting the fact are very popular in
newspaper because of commercial purposes. The publics are now high consciousof this. Although
many have a habit of reading newspapers to get information, they do not heavily rely on producers.
In conclusion, admittedly leisure activities have promoted the popularity of sedentary lifestyle in
modern society. However, they do not make people less creative for mentioned arguments.
