Ngày 9 tháng 3 năm 2011, chính phủ Việt Nam chính thức thành lập tường như một trang web di sản quốc gia, [1] lập kế hoạch yêu cầu chỉ định UNESCO Di sản văn hóa thế giới và để làm cho bức tường một trang web du lịch toàn cầu. Theo quan điểm của lịch sử Quảng Ngãi của, phát triển tường để du lịch sẽ là khó khăn, Adam Bray của CNN ghi nhận. Du lịch Quảng Ngãi đã được hạn chế đáng kể của chính phủ. Thiết lập tường như một điểm đến du lịch sẽ kêu gọi khuyến khích chính phủ "leo núi mạo hiểm và đi xe đạp qua các cộng đồng vùng cao bị cô lập trước đó trên một quy mô chưa từng có", giới thiệu du lịch sinh thái lịch sử. [5] Chính phủ có kế hoạch xây dựng một "hành lang bảo vệ kéo dài 500m ở hai bên của bức tường ", [1] và Ủy ban nhân dân Quảng Ngãi đã dành 15 tỷ đồng để trẻ hóa và duy trì các bức tường. [3] Nguyễn Giang Hải của Viện Khảo cổ học Việt Nam khẳng định rằng kể từ khi việc bảo tồn các di tích còn tùy thuộc vào bản địa tình cảm, "có một nhu cầu để gieo hạt giống của ý thức trong việc bảo vệ các di tích trong các cộng đồng sống dọc theo cấu trúc." Trẻ nêu rằng trong trường hợp của du lịch ", cơ hội tạo thu nhập" nên có sẵn cho người dân địa phương, vì "một di sản thế giới không phải là một cái gì đó để chiêm ngưỡng nhưng [cái gì] vì lợi ích của nhân dân". Giữa ngày 27 tháng 4 và ngày 08 tháng 5, tiếng Anh và cố vấn Pháp sẽ kiểm tra các bức tường và thảo luận với các quan chức Quảng Ngãi làm thế nào để công bố công khai các bức tường trong ánh sáng của sự mở rộng kinh tế xã hội.
