i. Seasonal Color Standards should be folded to 4 layer for opacity as directed in
the seasonal Color Standard Information list.
ii. Core Color Standards are swatched to opaque and do not require folding.)
b. Prints:
i. Allover Prints (AOP) should be viewed single layer.
ii. Sublimation prints with large panels of solid color should be viewed 2 layer with
same color on both layers.
c. Mesh fabrics should be folded to 4 layer for viewing and measuring. If fabric is not
opaque afer 4 layer then it is spectro non-readable.
3. View without white backing card, however, do not remove Standard from white backing card.
4. Sample must be centered in the light box.
5. Set the color standard adjacent to the sample.
6. Align the grain of both the sample and the color standard vertically.
7. Samples must be reviewed using 0 / 450 angle as shown in Figure 4 below. (No slant board in
light box used).

4.5 INSTRUMENTAL ASSESSMENT
4.5.1 Instrument Type
A spherical spectrophotometer with diffuse/80 geometry capable of reading spectral values from
360 to 700 nm and with UV Calibrated and/or UV Included features, that has to be calibrated and
serviced as specified by manufacturer.
4.5.2 Instrument Settings for Colored Materials (non-fluorescent)
 Specular Component: SCI (Specular Component Included)
 UV component: UV Component Excluded (or cut off at 400nm).
 Color Difference Equation: CMC; l:c = 2:1 (Includes DEcmc, DL/lSL, DC/cSC, DH/SH)
 Aperture: Large; use largest aperture that will cover the standard and sample size.
 Light sources: D65 (D65 10 Deg), CWF (F02 10 Deg), A (A 10 Deg)
