The pneumatic drill or road breaker is powered by high-pressure air which is produced by a compressor. The compressed air is pumped to the drill through a hose.Drill operators should wear protective earphones to prevent damage to hearing.Retaining latch holds the moil in positionThe increase ini pressure forces the operating valve to open, admitting air to the top of the chamber and closing off air in the return champer. As the pressure in the champer increases to 620 kPa (90 psi), it forces the piston to strike the chisel. When the piston passes the exhaust, the air is released into the atmosphere and the valve close. This opens the return chamber again, which allows the air to pass to the underside of the piston and restarts the cycle.Source: ‘inside out: road breaker’, education guardian
