This is just a very quick email. I haven't got much time this week, so please excuse my brevity! Here is my perspective on PPAN: He is a unique creative contributor. We can't think of him like an ordinary freelancer/CD. He has an irreplaceable set of creative skills that include storytelling, lyrics and stage production. Moreover, having him involved in this project is a good PR story. He is not some anonymous agency creative. He is a rising star, and his involvement will attract media interest. For all those reasons, I don't think we could find a substitute for PPAN. We don't know any other Broadway musical producers in Vietnam (I looked!), so his involvement is central to our idea. We very much sold HIM as a core element of our proposal. (Note the number of times the president of Saigon Beer said "Phi Phi".) And if we did find someone else like that, it's likely that he or she would be working in Vietnamese cinema and would cost more than $4,000.Here's the good part for Antiem: I don't think his fee needs to come out of the Agency Fee. He is a uniquely talented creative collaborator, so I think we should charge separately for his involvement. We can either itemize Phi Anh's involvement as a line item on Antiem's invoice, or we can treat him as a separately managed contractor to Saigon Beer. If Saigon Beer wants to do a competitive big process, cool. I don't think they'll have an easier time finding a replacement for Phi Anh, but then it will be their problem and not ours.
I think by looking creatively at PPAN's involvement, we can solve any financial issues quite easily. Please decide quickly, though, because we do not have much time to work on alternative creative concepts.
