Retrieved October 23, from http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/1730389-illegal-organ-business-booms/In the world today, people lose their lives to many different causes. Though this is a tragedy, there are also many people who could be help from these deaths and these people need an organ transplant. Organ donation gives another opportunity at life for a huge number of people. Therefore, some people think that organ donation should be mandatory for everyone to donate one of their organs when they die. Because the demand for transplants has been increasing every day, but the amount provided just have not been kept and this view would also save more lives and reduce illegal trading organs. However, there are some ideas against this view because of their religion and denial of human rights.First of all, the number of patients need new organs is increasing very day, but the amount provided just is not keeping. This means many people can be died due to don’t have enough organs to transplant. According around 1,600 people are on Australian organ transplant waiting lists at any time. Therefore, compulsory organ donation might be the best way to resolve this problem. It solves not only the provision of organ but also the potential for a match between donor and recipient. As a result, many patients can be rescued. Furthermore, mandatory for everyone to donate one of their organs when they die can limit the illegal organ business. This matter is a result of the lack of organ donors. Seeker have to buy organs in black markets with excessively high price. Fox example, in the black markets, a kidney is £84,000 and a heart goes up to £1 million. Moreover, in these markets, most of organs are from people who are unwilling to sell it such as victims of abduction for organs, the poor have to sell their organs to cover their lower living or debtors were pressed to sell their organs to repay money for creditors. According, “Between July 20, 1999 and July 1, 2004, at least 1,000 Falun Gong practitioners were tortured to death in China. These practitioners, 52 percent of whom were female, had an average age of 44 years. A recent report alleges that organs from some of these dead Falun Gong practitioners had been removed” (Epoch Times, 2004). Hence, governments should be mandatory everyone to donate their organs when they die, which increase the number of donors. In contrast, opponents believe that it is denial of human rights when force someone donate their organs. Because, everybody has the privilege to make decisions about anything that belong to them, especially their body even after death. The voluntary is the principle to respect but the people have to donate their organs that mean donations are obliged. It follows to rule or law. For this reason, the mandatory for everyone to donate of their organs when they die would be a serious problem about ethic.Another against of argument is culture, religion. According to custom in many countries such as Japan, Vietnam and China. People do not want to donate their organs and they prefer to keep their body whole when they died. For example, in Japan many people believe Shinto. According to Shinto tradition, if people died, their bodies will be impure. People believe that they have second life and death just is a beginning for the new life in another world. Moreover, if some people have organ transplant which use dead persons’ organs, they will have bad luck in their life. Therefore, donating organs is not favorable and it can become compulsory in this countries. To sum up, organ donation when people die is necessary because it can in increase donator to save more lives. This view also reduces illegal trading organs in black markets. But organ donation can’t be mandatory because of their religion and denial of human rights. The best way an increase donor is propaganda about the benefits and need of organ donation, besides encouraging donor’s voluntary now. And in future, the better ways might base on the development of medicine with the human cell cloning method.
