Anterior Open-bite

Anterior open bite due to excessive eruption of posteriors can be because of poor growth pattern or improper use of inter arch elastics.

This type of open bite is very difficult to manage in the finishing stage.

High pull head gear can be used to check the excessive downward descent of the maxilla. A mild open bite at the finishing stage is usually caused by infra eruption of the lower anteriors due to the excessively leveled lower arch.

This open bite can be corrected by putting round stainless steel wire in the lower arch and using anterior box elastic to extrude the lower incisor.
