Camila studied Lauren’s outfit. She would never choose the dark jeans and black band t-shirt for herself, but it’s what she adored about Lauren. Furrowing her eyebrows, Camila watched as Lauren grabbed her makeup bag from the counter.“No,” Camila shook her head and slid forward. “I do not want you to. You are pretty without it.”Lauren bit her lip, looking down at the products in her hands. She didn’t like going out without makeup. It was like her mask. But she realized she had just told Camila the same exact thing. She would be contradicting herself if she didn’t oblige.“You’re too smart for your own good,” Lauren teased, giving Camila a soft smile and pushing the makeup bag aside. Once they brushed their teeth, she combed her fingers through her own hair and glanced in the mirror once last time before turning to Camila. “Looks like we’re ready, then.”Camila smiled and followed Lauren into the bedroom, waiting as the older girl zipped up her combat boots and tugged a beanie onto her head. Her eyes widened.“I want one,” Camila hopped forwards and pointed to Lauren’s beanie. Lauren raised an eyebrow. The beanie she currently had on was the only one she owned. That was, until, she remembered something. She held up a finger to signal for Camila to wait.Digging around in the back of her closet, Lauren smiled when she finally found what she was looking for. She stood up and held the baby blue beanie out in Camila’s direction.“I forgot I even owned this,” Lauren laughed softly, watching as Camila’s face lit up and she gently took the beanie from Lauren’s hands. “I used to wear it all the time in high school.”Camila studied the beanie in her hands before tugging it on. She was met with an overwhelming sense of familiarity as Lauren stepped forward and adjusted the material on her head.“I love it,” Camila smiled, reaching up to pat the top of her head.“Y'look cute,” Lauren laughed softly before turning around and grabbing her backpack. Camila clapped her hands together.“I want one,” Camila pointed to Lauren’s backpack. The green eyed girl couldn’t help but laugh.Without another word, Lauren dug around under her bed until she found one of her old backpacks from high school. Camila’s eyes widened.“You like blue,” she noted, pointing to the color of the backpack. Lauren nodded and walked over to her desk, tossing a few colored pencils and a pad of paper into the bag.“It’s my favorite color,” Lauren said as she handed the bag to Camila. She watched as the smaller girl carefully adjusted the straps over her shoulders.“It is?” Camila tiled her head to the side and looked up at Lauren. “I thought it was yellow.”“That’s your favorite color, doofus,” Lauren teased, opening the door for Camila as they exited her bedroom. “Mine has been blue since I was little.”“Oh,” Camila looked down at her shoes as she shuffled them towards the front door. “Because of the sky, right? Because it makes you think of the sky, even when you are inside.”Lauren raised her eyebrows. “Y'know, I never thought about it that way,” she laughed as they entered the elevator. Camila pushed the button for the ground floor proudly, adjusting her beanie in the mirror and smiling at her reflection. As Lauren drove them to the school, she noticed Camila growing more and more anxious. It was prominent in the girl’s features. Her eyebrows would furrow together in concern, and she bounced her leg softly.“Hey,” Lauren reached over and laced their fingers together. “What’s up?”“What if they do not like me?” Camila looked over at Lauren and then down at their hands.“They will,” Lauren squeezed her hand just at they pulled into the back of the parking lot. “Everyone likes you. Including me. Don’t worry your pretty little mind.”Camila crinkled her nose, slowly exiting the car once Lauren opened her door. “I am still nervous,” she confessed, following quickly behind Lauren as they walked towards the large building. Lauren stopped walking, holding her hand out and waiting for Camila to take it. Once she did, Lauren kissed her cheek gently.“You won’t even have to look at anyone if you don’t want to. It’s a workshop day today anyway,” she shrugged and continued walking. “All I’m doing is working on a painting. You can help me out, if you want.”“I will mess up,” Camila shook her head, planting her feet in the ground just outside the front door and looking at Lauren pleadingly.“Camz,” Lauren stepped forwards and pulled the door open. “You’ve got my lucky blue beanie on, you can do anything.”“Anything?” Camila giggled, tilting her head to the side.“Anything,” Lauren confirmed. She squeezed Camila’s hand, leading them into the building. When they reached her classroom, she adjusted her backpack on her shoulder and gently held the door open.Camila followed her shyly into the classroom, looking around slowly. All the other students were too busy in their work to notice the extra member.
