Vùng đồng bằng phù sa lớn của sông Cửu Long ở miền Nam Việt Nam và Campuchia và sông Hồng ở miền Bắc Việt Nam có nước ngầm được khai thác phục vụ nước uống bởi tin ống giếng, mà là tăng nhu cầu kể từ giữa những năm 1990. Bài viết này trình bày tổng quan về ô nhiễm nước ngầm asen ở đồng bằng sông Cửu Long: Nồng độ asen dao 1-1610 mg / L ở Campuchia (trung bình 217 mg / L) và 1-845 mg / L ở miền nam Việt Nam (trung bình 39 mg / L) , tương ứng. Nó cũng đánh giá tình hình ở đồng bằng sông Hồng, nơi nồng độ asen ngầm khác nhau 1-3050 mg / L (trung bình 159 mg / L). Ngoài khu vực nông thôn, các
nguồn nước uống của thành phố Hà Nội đã nâng nồng độ asen. Các trầm tích 12-40 m lõi sâu từ vùng đồng bằng sông Hồng chứa hàm lượng asen trong 2-33 mg / g (trung bình 7 mg / g, trọng lượng khô) và cho thấy một mối tương quan đáng kể với sắt trầm tích bị ràng buộc. Trong cả ba khu vực, tình trạng ô nhiễm nước ngầm asen dường như có nguồn gốc tự nhiên và do giải thể khử của giai đoạn sắt mang asen bị chôn vùi trong các tầng chứa nước. Dân số có nguy cơ nhiễm độc asen mạn tính được ước tính là 10 triệu đồng bằng sông Hồng và ,5-1.000.000 ở đồng bằng sông Cửu Long. Một tập hợp các mẫu tóc thu tại Việt Nam và Campuchia từ người dân uống nước dưới đất có hàm lượng asen N50 mg / L có một hàm lượng arsen cao hơn đáng kể so với nhóm đối chứng (B50 mg / L). Rất ít trường hợp của các vấn đề sức khỏe liên quan đến asen được công nhận trong các lĩnh vực nghiên cứu so với Bangladesh và Tây Bengal. Sự khác biệt này có lẽ là cần Arsenic ô nhiễm nước ống cũng chỉ được sử dụng đáng kể trong 7-10 năm qua ở Việt Nam và Campuchia. Bởi vì các triệu chứng của ngộ độc asen mạn tính thường phải mất hơn 10 năm để phát triển, số lượng các bệnh liên quan đến tương lai asen ở Campuchia và Việt Nam có xu hướng tăng. Các biện pháp giảm nhẹ đầu nên là một ưu tiên cao.
