The Su-30 V4 “HOVERING PARKJET”

Introduction
Why are some of us so obsessed with flying fast jets slow? You hand a jet to me and the first thing I want to do is put it into high alpha and see if I can get it to hover for a second. There is something about hovering a jet that some of us are destined to do, it’s why we keep trying to do it. The problem has been, all these years, we’ve never really been satisfied with a true hovering jet. We’ve had some get close for a second or two on a good day, but not a solid “hold and hover”. The new Su-30 V4 is our official hovering 3D parkjet and I think we got something special here. There are three specific areas I’d like to show you and those are the Ultralight Framework, the Perfect Balance, and the Multirole Options. These factors give the new Su-30 V4 the magical ability to bring its nose all the way up and hold it! This is the new one I kept finding myself flying more because it was just so easy.

What Else Is Out There?
Have you ever tried to get one of these parkjets to hover, I mean really hover like a 3D plane? I spent years trying to get a solid hover out of a parkjet. When I saw videos on YouTube of the full scale Russian jets hovering (and later the US F-22) I got hooked on the hovering-jet-bug. To see a jet just stand up on its tail like that is the ultimate display of maneuverability mastery. The big problem when you try this in the RC parkjet world is your single motor creates so much wing rock from the torque roll that it quickly knocks your hover over. You can never hold the plane in a hover longer than 10 seconds because it’s so imbalanced. Counter rotating twin motors do solve this, but now you are more complex than what the average guy wants to build and fly. So many production designs are so close, but none really give us that true simple, parkjet, hover do they? What exactly do we want in a true hover and what would it take to actually get it?

What Would Be Ideal?
Imagine being out at the field and pulling out a parkjet that’s just a little bit cooler than everyone else’s. As they are all glancing at you, you give it a light toss into the air and STOP! The plane leaves your hand, flies up about five feet and goes into a controlled hover. Everyone is thinking you must be in a head wind with low throttle... but as it’s coming up on 30 seconds you’re still sitting there, everyone begins to realize you have something they don’t. Even though your parkjet looks alot like theirs on the surface, underneath you have a set of “magic numbers” that give you unreal abilities. This parkjet would have to be so precise, so dialed in, so meticulously thought out, tested, calibrated, perfected, and then simplified to actually do this. Your parkjet would have to be the ideal hovering platform that finally came to life. Are you beginning to feel the excitement we have in bringing this new hovering Su-30 V4 to you?

The New “HOVERING PARKJET” Su-30 V4!
The new Su-30 V4 has all the best benefits from the design and construction techniques of the V3s and the hovering capabilities of our old high alpha experimental planes, only with super simplicity. Do you know what this means? This means you will be the only guy at the field with a parkjet that can do a true hover! Up until now this ability has only been for a few individuals that had their own custom planes. Never before has something like this been available to the public and now you can be the first at your field to hover a parkjet. Here are the three specific areas I’d like to show you that produced the big breakthroughs; the Ultralight Framework, the Perfect Balance, and the Multirole Options.

Ultralight Framework. For generations a kite hovering high in the sky captures our deep attention. What makes such a simple platform hover in one spot like that? It’s a strong frame, wing area, a tail for directional drag, and a string! With just that you have a hover! See how it doesn't take much to get a hover if you have the numbers right? No bulky frames, no expensive parts, no complicated builds. It’s just a frame, wing area, and a correction system (tail and string). My favorite part is that a kite’s framework WANTS to hover and THAT is the principle we are looking for. The new Su-30 V4 is built off these principles, and this is what is making it so magical compared to all the other parkjets. The layout of the parts and notches transfer the stresses throughout the plane so you don’t need to bulk it up with carbon. The lighter frame means you can use a smaller power system, lighter hardware, and less glue. Is “MORE” expensive stuff going to help your kite hover better or worse? Same thing with the Su-30 V4. It’s the clever framework and dimensions that is doing all the work, not the pilot. What you feel at the field is that the plane is constantly trying to work with you and not against you in a hover! If you can hover a kite, you can hover the new Su-30 V4.

Perfect Balance. Where your motor is on your plane (front, back, in the middle somewhere) greatly affects the inertia balance of the plane. Moving the motor a bit more forward gives you a fast pitch response which is better for hovering. The new Su-30 V4 has it’s motor moved forward closer to its center of gravity giving you a plane that naturally wants to hover when you ask it to. With the motor closer to the CG (your pivot point) the control surfaces now become much more effective! Here is where it gets extreme: Like a true 3D hovering stunt plane, this parkjet has the largest controls we could fit on it! This means that you have larger control surfaces moving a little vs smaller control surfaces moving alot to maintain a hover. Get this, with the large elevons and rudders in the back, this makes the ailerons very optional. Think about that, you now have a plane at the field that can do what no one else’s can do... and with less cost and parts!

Multi Role Options. A big success we had with the V3 series and applied even more intensely with the V4s, is having very clear, focused, internal “roles” that each plane fills. The Su-30 V4 fulfills the role of the slow flying, high alpha, hovering parkjet. But what if you have mastered flying in small spaces like your front yard, and now you have time to take it to the field and push for some high speed aerobatic performance? Well, good news! We made sure that this plane could be converted to a high speed aerobatic plane easily! The instructions show you how and where to put optional KF airfoils on it, upgrade to a bigger more powerful motor, and set it up for speed and aerobatics. What we do is bring two of these Su-30 V4s to the field and set one up for “fast and strong” and the other “slow and simple” (as laid out in the instructions). You now have two different planes for the price of one! This really impresses the guys at the field when you can put on two different shows with the same plane.

Summary
With the breakthrough 3D Su-30 V4 you are getting the world’s first production 3D parkjet. The ultralight framework is inspired by the classic kite so you have a plane that wants to hover. If you can hover a traditional RC 3D plane (YAK, Extra 300, Edge 540, etc) then you can hover this parkjet! The perfect balance of the design means you need far less to power and move it. This saves you time, money, and effort. These factors give the new 3D Su-30 V4 the magical ability to bring its nose all the way up and hold it. The multirole options means you don’t ever have to get bored of it. Follow the instructions to transform this 3D plane into a full aerobatic, high speed, parkjet. You’ll find yourself flying this one more because it’s just too easy.
