2.6. FT-IR analysisCS-PMAA nanoparticle suspensions with 500, 60and 500 ppm of N, P and K, respectively were prepared as described in chapter 2.4. The nanoparticlesuspensions with/without entrapment of NPK fertil-izers were frozen by liquid nitrogen and lyophilizedby a freeze drying system in order to obtain driednanoparticles. FT-IR spectra were taken on a PerkinElmer Spectrum model Paragon 1000 (Perkin-ElmerLife and Analytical Sciences, Inc., Waltham, MAUSA), in the range of 4000 to 400 cm–1 to evaluatethe chemical interaction between NPK fertilizersand CS nanoparticles. Powdered samples were prepared using KBr to form pellets.
