Tonle SapThat is all in the middle

Tonle Sap
That is all in the middle of Cambodia. It is one of the largest fresh water lakes of Asia. Half of the fish consumed by the country comes from this lake.
‘Some of them say they do. Others. They benefited by the past. The present life situation that you can almost feel here is a circle, a stress-free life. Completely how we, in almost every day, we’re stressed for only the little things. And life just affects us physically and mentally. So with them, you can almost feel the difference.
We are just at the outskirt of Angkor, at the nearest town to the ruins, Siem Reap. The very name itself held to the country’s violence past. Siem Reap means Siam defeated commemorating the victory against the Siamese centuries ago. A booming town. Siem Reap is an excellent place to discover the vibrancy of the Cambodian culture and arts.
Apsara Dance, the traditional dance of the Khmers, is about a thousand years old, accompanied by musical instruments, unique to the Khmers.
Artisans d’ Angkor
Siem Reap is also home to the Artisans d’ Angkor, a national project to teach and promote the ancient crafts.
It has been a tiring journey, but the best to witness. Tomorrow is the journey to back in time, a thousand years to the city of Angkor.

Angkor
Angkor was first built in the 9th century. Angkor means a city in sun screen. And what a city it was? The place is just the target of imagination. No one knows for sure just how big the city was. Definitely many hundreds of square kilometers. Perhaps, it was as much as one thousands. It is the size that was, by far, of the largest city in the world. It is staggering to realize that probably about the same size as Los Angeles is today. The Khmers want the rule to cross most of the South East Asia. Then in 1431, the city was abandoned after the fighting with the Siam and likely was in food and water shortages.
Angkor was declared a world heritage site in 1992. The most famous and best reserved of the ruins is Angkor Wat. Wat means the temple in Khmer. So this is like the main temple of Angkor.
Angkor Wat is just a tiny fraction of even the recovered part of the city. Yet, by itself, Angkor Wat is the world’s largest religious building.
I bet you guess temporarily how steep it is. And it is the Angkor Wat, the steepest stairway I’ve ever climbed. I bet you don’t, most of you don’t know why it is so steep. It may be steep, so that your back side never faces the King. If you want to have this experience, you can do this here in Angkor Wat. But I’m going down now. Do you see these holes in the stones? These stones come from the quarry about sixty kilometers from Angkor. To carry the stone here, wooden blocks were hammered into these holes.
Just the temple alone took 50 thousand craftsmen and labourers 40 years to build. It is not widely known that Angkor Wat in its stay served two religions: first Hindu, than Buddhist, when the Siamese came in the 12th century. It’s also considered the epidermis of Khmer architecture. It is the symbol of Cambodia’s state flight, a reflection of the past and a hope of the future. It is the only state plight in the world with a building depicter.
There is much more Angkor in just the Angkor Wat. Here in Bayon, a collection of 37 tasks, each has 4 giants’ faces; each is looking in one direction.
There are some arguments as whether this is the face of Buddha or that of the King looking over his people.
