I am very excited to announce that this Friday, January 16 we will be holding the first annual Blue Valley West Enrollment Fair for our 9th, 10th, and 11th graders during the school day. The enrollment fair will run from 7:45 – 11:00. Students will have abbreviated classes from 11:00 – 2:50. This is an important event and a great opportunity our students won’t want to miss.
The goal of the enrollment fair is to better inform our students of their enrollment options. Our counselors will distribute and discuss all enrollment materials, provide instructions for the online enrollment process that will begin on January 26, and be available to answer student questions pertaining to enrollment. Our math, science, ELA, and social studies teachers will be explaining the differences between the expectations of honors/AP courses and regular courses. And finally, our elective teachers will be showcasing their programs and providing information so students are knowledgeable about what those courses have to offer. Hopefully this will lead to better and more informed enrollment choices this spring and reduce the need for schedule changes our students tend to request in the fall.
As we approach the enrollment dates we will be encouraging our students to:
Thoughtfully consider all enrollment options
Find a way to stretch themselves academically
Do it (course selection) right the first time
Stay the course (in the course)…You Can Do It!!
As the enrollment window approaches, I will be providing more information regarding the benefits of taking an individually rigorous course load and the importance of making solid enrollment choices the first time.
I am very excited about this opportunity for our students. I believe it will be very helpful and beneficial.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brett D. Potts
