beams (see Figure 5). Brickforce is to be of 2,2 mm diameter longitudinal wires at 130 mm centres. Lintels are placed over window openings and the gap between the 75 mm deep lintel and adjacent 115 mm high blocks is filled with mortar.
Internal walls are laid in stretcher bond with mortar bed¬ding filling the rebate in the underside of the blocks and with mortar in the perpends between blocks. The first course of internal wall blocks is laid on a levelling bed of mortar on the surface bed or foundation wall, as for external walls, Singfe strands of brickforce, including cross wires, are cut from rolls of brickforce as specified for external walls, and are laid in the mortar-filled rebate in the underside of the blocks. Brickforce strands are inserted at every second course between floor level and door head height; above this level, each course of blockwork has brickforce (see Figure 6).
Prestressed concrete lintels are used above all internal doors and, as is the case with external walls, the gap be¬tween the 75 mm deep lintel and the adjacent 115 mm high blockwork is filled with mortar.
Cross-bonding of blockwork between internal and exter¬na! walls is not possible but walls are tied together with brickforce strands that are anchored into rebates chis¬elled into the external blocks at every second course and bedded in the horizontal mortar beds of internal walls. Above window head height, where external blocks are bedded in mortar, this rebate is not necessary as the ends of brickforce ties are anchored in mortar. (See Fig¬ure 11.)
Beam filling consists of 110 mm wide internal wall blocks laid in mortar.
