Price Adjustment Confirmation — Ritter Sport Chocolate
Dear Linh,
As you are aware, continued positive development of product categories is driven primarily
by strong brands and market investments. Naturally, Ritter Sport must keep pace with
category developments with our ongoing policy to maintain and whenever possible
continually improve the quality of our products and brand positioning. Through these efforts,
we ensure that our brand continues to be a solid contributor to your business and maintains
the trust of local retailers and consumers. Throughout the years, we have maintained the
high quality of all our ingredients to ensure that we continue to provide you and the
consumers of our chocolates the finest and highest quality you have come to expect from
Ritter Sport.
With our own continued investments into the brand over the past few years, we continued to
take measures to absorb cost adjustments and these investments. Unfortunately, due to the
significant recent increases in raw materials costs and manufacturing, we are no longer able
to maintain our business at its current level. For these reasons, we announced in October
2014 a price adjustment for all the markets selling our brand.
Depending on current or previous pricing, the amount of the adjustment in “all” markets
varied from 11% to 14%. The price adjustment was executed beginning Februagg 2015 and,
depending on the market, continues until May 2015.
This price adjustment has been or will be executed in over 100 countries. This includes our
own subsidiaries.
