Widespread accessory ilmenite and commercial concentrations of ilmenite in the anorthosite indicate a genetic relationship between ilmeniteand anorthosite. Dikes and veinlets of ilmenite in anorthosite, as well asinclusions of anorthosite in the orebodies, attest to the younger age of theore. Both Hammond (1952) and Dearden (1958) suggest that the ilmeniteand the anorthosite are differentiates of the same parent magma, the largedeposits of commercial ore representing a late segregation. The immiscibleFe-Ti-P04 liquid must have had the composition of the ore (Table 9-4) andmust have been injected into dilational shear zones in the hot precrystalline
