Summary Critique: Nuclear Power
Greenpeace, 2012, ‘Nuclear power: dirty, dangerous and expensive’, Greenpeace International.
The nuclear power is an alternative resource of the natural resources such as heat and light. It produces more energy with little expense but putting people at risk of facing a huge amount of radioactivity. Although using the nuclear can increase the efficiency, the drawbacks outweigh its benefits.
The author points out the risk of producing nuclear power. It is like the vision of hell when you see a nuclear may lead to disaster. The radioactivity is released into the atmosphere. Therefore, the environment is polluted and it may affect the people’s health, plants and wild animals’ lives. The other major problem is that we do not have any suitable solution to store radioactive wastes. Those radioactive wastes are stored in some temporary facilities right now. According to the article, nuclear power contributes significantly to the process of climate change or global warming.
In my perspective, this is quite a great article written by Greenpeace that address many negative aspects of nuclear power. Therefore, it helps readers to obtain the insight of nuclear and get the main point easily. The structure and language of this report are formal and logical as well. However, the article does not mention about the positive aspects that nuclear power can bring to the society currently.
Overall, the author gives a good idea about negative aspects of nuclear power. The author should gives more wrong positive to the reader have a better understanding of nuclear power.
