Raw material supply to Ukraine’s Avdiivka Coke problematic again due to destroyed
railways
CIS / Coke
Ukraine’s Avdiivka Coke has difficulties with raw materials procurement again due to destruction of railway lines.
Around 70 railcars holding some 4,500 t of coal concentrate have been stopped on their way to the plant.
Cargo traffic on the alternative railway tracks is hindered by continuing hostilities in the region. Apart from the problems
with delivery, the plant still suffers from water and power supply disruptions.
The plant made around 121,000 t of coke in November, with usual output being 300,000-320,000 t, and it is planning
to maintain capacity utilization this month. Late last week, its coal prep shops held around 50,000 t of the material.
Metal Expert has been informed that this volume will be enough until mid-December provided coke production remains
at the current level.
Ilyich Steel and Azovstal, also part of Metinvest, are the main consumers of Avdiivka coke.
