Nowadays, many species of wild animals have been mercilessly poached and killed at an alarming rate across the world ;consequently, some rare species have been on the verge of extinction. The huge efforts of many governments to preserve these endangered animals seem to bring about only humble result in helping them survive. That's the reason why some people firmly claimed that it's useless to use our limited resources to protect wild creatures for fear that they will soon disappear in this modern time.
From my personal viewpoint, I strongly protest that radical idea, sticking to preventing them from dying out and believe in the inevitable existence of these wild animals in the 21st century for these reasons.
Firstly, Scientific researchers has proved that wild animals are not only an integral part of the global eco-system but also an important element of ecological balance. The picture depicting diversified biology of the Earth would become so dull and tedious, if lacking these wild animals. Besides, the disappearance of some living creatures possibly leads to the extraordinary increase of other faunas, causing a serious imbalance of other species. For example: The illegal hunting of snakes and killing cats for food in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam have led to the uncontrollable booming of rats, destroying crops and transmitting diseases to local residents.
Secondly, with the study on their daily activities and biological characteristics, the scientists can invent some useful innovations for our life. For instance, Radar was invented through the study of bat's and dolphin's inborn instincts . Moreover, with the building of natural reserves, the researchers can have an ideal place to study and carry out live experiments on the evolution of species and the preservation of rare sources of specific genes for the future generations. In fact, scientists have decoded human genomes through the study of primates' genetic information.
Thirdly , Spending on creating national parks and natural reserves doesn't lay a heavy burden on our budget because the expenditure on the forest planning, paying salaries for the management unit, fighting forest fires and improving the lives of local people living near the forest does not cost much . And this sum of money can be properly compensated by the revenues from tourism and the income from projects of scientific research supported by corporations and institutions of the United Nations and NGOs. For example, After getting recognition as a World Biosphere reserves by UNESCO, Can Gio Wet forest has not only attracted many tourists to visit but also received financial assistance for some projects to conserve its unique flora and fauna, especialy primates and crocodiles.
In conclusion, I strongly affirm that the protection of wild animals definitely brings about many concrete benefits to our planet, both spiritually and materialistically. And the conservation of the wild animals and their natural habitats will not cost us much, if we have a proper plan on spending and seeking the donors' assistance. As a result, the wild creatures surely still exist in the 21st century, making our planet become more vivid and colorful place to live. Nhận xét của giáo viên :
