Learning the Outcome of the Bidding Process—When All Decisions Are Made Annually.
If decisions are made annually (meaning that no quarterly decision updates are allowed), then it is recommended that companies who win the 100,000-unit special orders automatically outsource the assembly of the 100,000 units so as to not disrupt their previously decided assembly schedule for quarter 3. Information concerning winning bidders will appear in the next issue of the GLO-BUS Statistical Review (at the bottom of the Benchmarks page); the full effects of the winning bid (on revenues, costs, and profits) will be part of the numbers in the Company Operating Reports.
Learning the Outcome of the Bidding Process—When Quarterly Decision Updates Are Allowed. In the case of industries where the quarterly decision update option has been activated and companies can make decision adjustments quarterly, the winning bids are announced at the end of Quarter 1 in an e-mail to the managers of all companies. The Q1 announcement allows company managers time to adjust their Q3 assembly decisions (perhaps, hiring more temporary PATs or assembling some of the camera at overtime) should they wish to do so—but automatic outsourcing of any winning bids is always an option here too.
