The seed is one part of the sugar apple (Annona squamosa L)
plant which was potentially developed into a botanical
insecticide. This plant is common and widely grown in
Indonesia. Sugar apple seeds contain 42-45% fat, annonain and
skuamosin (belonging to the asetogenin groups) which are
toxic (contact and stomach poison) to insects (Londershausen
et al., 1991; Kardinan, 2000; Leatemia & Isman, 2004).
Hexane extract of sugar apple seeds with 0.50% concentration
on the larvae growth media of Chrysomya bezziana reported
causing death and failure to the imago up to 100% (Wardhana
et al., 2004).
