As discussed in Chapter 2, PDCCH is also used to schedule the UE on the UL. Hence,C-DRX controls the UL transmissions as well. The discontinues transmission (DTX) of ULchannels applies, depending on the commands being received on the PDCCH during activeduty. Figure 4.4 illustrates the UL mechanism during C-DRX. The UE sends an SR (schedulingrequest)4 when data is available in the UE buffer. If the UE is in C-DRX sleep duty, itimmediately switches to active duty and begins monitoring the PDCCH for a possible ULgrant.
