Sir, Madam,

Thank you for contacting Citizenship and Immigration Canada. I am pleased to follow up on your request:

Application Forms - Sponsorship of a Member of the Family Class - Spouse, Common-Law Partner, Conjugal Partner or Dependent Child
To sponsor a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or dependent child, you must send the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class to the Case Processing Center (CPC) in Mississauga, Ontario. If you want to sponsor more than one dependent child, you must use an application form for each child and send all the applications in the same envelope.
The application is available on our website. You can fill out the application online and print it.
There are three parts to this application and they must be sent together to CPC Mississauga:
Part 1 must be completed by the sponsor.
Parts 2 and 3 must be completed by the person being sponsored. Please note that for part 3, you must download and print the correct set of instructions by clicking on the geographical region where the sponsored person lives.
If you are residing in Quebec, the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI) will send you other documents to complete.
To help avoid delays or a refusal, make sure that you:
Properly complete and sign all the application form(s),
Include all documents listed on the document checklists (IMM 5491 and the one specific to the sponsored person’s country of residence),
Pay your fees. Please see the Fee list to find out the total cost you need to pay, and
Include the proof of payment.

To know if you are eligible to sponsor your spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or dependent child, please consult the Sponsorship eligibility section of the Instruction guide (IMM 3900).

Processing times - Application to sponsor a member of the family class - Spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or dependent child
When you send an Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class, the process is done in two steps. There are different processing times for each step.
The first step is done in Canada
An officer at the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Mississauga, Ontario, will verify if the sponsor meets the sponsorship requirements. You can find the processing time for this step on our Web site. If the file is transferred to the local office for further verifications, the processing time listed on our Web site no longer applies. Please note that no acknowledgement letter is sent before this step is completed.
If you are residing in Quebec, the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI) will send you other documents to complete.
The second step is done outside Canada
The CPC in Mississauga sends the file to the responsible Canadian visa office located outside Canada. An officer at the visa office will decide if the person being sponsored and their family members, if applicable, meet all the requirements to become permanent residents of Canada. The processing time for this step is different for each visa office.
For more information and for the processing times, contact the Canadian visa office that will process your application or visit our website.
