The Fricke standard of absorbed dose to water determines the response of theFricke solution using the total absorption of an electron beam in the solution [44]. Knowing the electron energy, the beam current and the absorbingmass accurately, the total absorbed energy can be determined and related to thechange in absorbance of the Fricke solution as measured spectrophotometrically. The absorbed dose to water at the reference point in a water phantom isobtained using the Fricke dosimeter as the transfer standard.
