Shield wires and phase conductors of the transmissionline can be modeled by several spans at each side ofthe point of impact. A rigorous representation of eachspan should be based on a multi-phase frequencydependentuntransposed distributed-parameter linemodel [8].However, for lightning overvoltage calculations,a constant-parameter line model can be accurateenough, and parameters are usually calculated at400-500 kHz [5]. A line termination at each side ofthis model is needed to avoid reflections that couldaffect the simulated overvoltages around the pointof impact. This termination must be representedaccordingly to the model chosen for the line spans;for instance, if the line spans are represented by linesections with constant and distributed parameterscalculated at 500 kHz, the line termination could bya long enough section, whose parameters are alsocalculated at 500 kH
