2.3 Design for manufacturability and design for assembly
Designs that are constructed with a focus on being easy to manufacture and assemble are much more likely to avoid redesign [9]. Failing to consider manufacturability and assembly in design can result in products that are either fundamentally impossible to make or more expensive than they need to be [7]. Edwards [10] gathered and proposed a number of guidelines for manufacturability and assembly and some of the most essential guidelines are listed below as examples for a certain type of products.
