The buck– boost PFC topologies (isolated or non-isolated)perform better in the applications requiring low power(preferably less than 500 W) and wide DC link voltagevariation. These topologies, including C´uk, SEPIC andZeta topologies, provide very good control of DC linkvoltage with low THD of current and high PF at inputmains. Two-switch PFC topologies (half bridge and push–pull) have shown an improved performance in mediumpower range (up to 1 kW) as compared to single-switchtopologies. Among, the four-switch PFC topologies, fullbridge topology is found suitable for applications having1 – 2 kW power range, whereas, PWM-VSC has a definiteadvantage of bidirectional power flow and has qualities forhigher power (2 – 4 kW) drive applications.
