The teaching of English language to Thai students has been of limited success over manyyears. This is despite numerous attempts by the Ministry of Thai Education to developcurricula to help students improve English skills. However the majority of Thai students arenot competent in using English language skills, especially listening skills. This is becauselistening requires effort and concentration, and it is difficult to determine whether someone isactually listening to a speaker. Poor listening skills can have adverse consequences. Forstudents, poor listening can result in lower grades, incorrect assignments, lost jobopportunities, and the like.
