THE REGENT HOTEL, LONDONJack Tippit

THE REGENT HOTEL, LONDON
Jack Tippit and his wife, Isabel, who is Spanish, both work at the Regent Hotel in the center of London. Jack is a receptionist and Isabel works in the hotel bar.
Jack says: ‘Ten million people visit London every year. Our hotel has sixty rooms, and visitors come from all over the world, especially from America and Japan. I speak English, German, and Spanish. I don’t speak Japanese, but I want to learn it. Isabel speaks English and French and Spanish, of course. ‘Our visitors like doing many things. They often have breakfast in the hotel, an English breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast. Then perhaps after breakfast they visit the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace and go shopping in Harrods. They come back to the hotel at four o’clock and have tea and relax. Then in the evening they go to the theatre. Isabel and I work long hours. I work from six o’clock in the morning till three in the afternoon, and Isabel works from six in the evening till one in the morning, but we love our work.’

Hi, Sue
Well, here I am, in Edinburgh at last. The course is really interesting and the people I’m living with are really nice. We all went kayaking together last weekend. Here’s a photo. There’s John, Simon and Lucy. John’s a teacher. He’s sitting on top of the car in the photo. He’s great fun. He’s always joking and laughing. He’s teaching on a children’s summer camp at the moment. The kids really love him! And then there’s Simon. He’s standing in front of the car. He’s smiling in the photo, but sometimes he’s very quiet and serious. He’s doing a photography course. He’s really good. His photos are great. Lucy’s sitting on the canoe. She’s got beautiful long hair, but you can’t see it in the photo. She’s a drama student. She’s working as a barmaid during her summer holidays.
Come and visit me soon. Then you can meet them all! Edinburgh is a great town. You’ll love it.
Anyway, I’ve got to go. It’s my turn to cook dinner!
Take care and love to everyone.
