The Stirling engine is a mechanical device which operates on a closed regenerative thermodynamic cycle with cyclic compression and expansion of the working fluid at different temperature levels. The working fluid is controlled only by changing the internal vol- ume, no valves and, in general, there is a net conversion of heat to work and back [38]. The high-temperature source is the steam that comes from the boiler and from the heat recovery boiler and the low-temperature source is the steam entering the heat recovery boiler. A fundamental and distinctive part of this engine is the presence of an element called regenerator, which is responsible for storing thermal energy during a certain part of the cycle and returning to the working fluid the same amount of energy during another part of the cycle in a process at constant volume, thereby saving fuel and increasing efficiency [39].
