This software converts data measured dynamically using laser interferometer equipment into meaningful geo- metric error data, thus providing a high-speed, high-resolution machine tool calibration facility. The data are input to the software as a standard Renishaw ASCII error ®le. The form of the output ®le ensures that it can be analysed using the Renishaw analysis soft-
ware. The conversion software is interactive with the laser being prompted for information and guided through the process. The user is presented with an oper-ating screen that splits the conversion process into dis-tinct operations such as data input, data processing,
geometric error generation and data output. The soft-ware has been written using Borland Turbo C V2.0 within the DOS environment. The development of the software was covered by Postlethwaite and Ford [10].
