Asami felt an array of emotions. The entrance of Club Sion felt nostalgic and he felt he was finally home, but his knowledge of the truth behind the misty deception of normality also made him felt like he’s been somewhat domesticated, and he hated the sheer thought of it.

Jonathan kept his promise of a nominal takeover. Neither the employees nor the mode of operations were touched in any way, Asami understood that, but even so he still tasted the desecration of his kingdom, something he would never have agreed to if it wasn’t for Akihito.

Nothing much has changed since his departure, a somewhat consolation to Asami’s inconvenience. Club Sion was still the centre of black market trades which provided entertainment and connections for its high profile patrons, although Asami’s involvement has greatly diminished. He was now more of a middle person who oversees the trades and provides the networking and facilities needed for negotiations, a job way more relaxing than his previous active involvements. If he was honest, the role of a puppeteer wasn’t all that bad.

“Asami-sama?” Kirishima broke his thoughts.

“I’m alright, let’s go.” He has a hell lot of paperwork to sign. It wasn’t the best time for petty sentiments.

He walked straight down the corridor towards the lift that led directly to his office on the higher floors, his subordinates opening one door after another for him with their heads bowed low, some gave him a concerned look but he ignored them. He hasn’t been around for a while, but he didn’t need to explain himself to those who didn’t need to know.

“Have you dealt with the Kagura group?” he asked, remembering Kirishima’s report about a rival group attempting to sneak into their territory.

“They are closely monitored in our radar, once we gather enough intelligence we’ll take them out.”

“Good.” Asami replied, taking his seat in front of his working desk. He frowned at the huge pile of folders as if they were his enemies. This is going to take a while.

“Is there anything else that you need?”

“No, but have Suoh bring the limo around at 7.30. I’m having dinner with Akihito at eight.”

“Hai, Asami-sama. Shitsurei itashimasu.” *Excuse my leave

Asami grabbed one of the folders and opened it, turning around to face the windowed walls behind his desk. He gazed into the city lights below him, not really paying attention to the document in his hand. The Kagura group must be bloody stupid. His association with the Ootori Organization may not have been publically advertised but one would expect the third largest group in Japan to have done some research before trying to plot a coup d'état against him

He rubbed his temples. It was overwhelmingly tempting to wipe out the pain in the arse once and for all but it wouldn’t serve him any good as the middle man. If he were to maintain a firm control of the trades, he would have to take a neutral standing. He may not be able to attack them proactively but if they made the move first, then he would make sure they have a glimpse of hell before he’s finished with them.

He gloomed at the plan. Waiting around really didn’t suit him, but he would have to endure it for the moment, if not for anything else, then for the sake of Akihito.

Julius and Gabriel stood side by side in the strategy room, studying the huge map in front of them with great intensity. The deployed troops have ensured a lockdown in Afro-Eurasia but they were still having trouble pinpointing the strongholds of the enemy. The world has slumped into a credit crunch so fast that many countries were unable to sustain their economy and had to surrender part of their sovereignty to the Ootori Organization for aid, although of course, this was signed with the many incognitos of the Ootori Organization to avoid suspicion and paranoia from the public. After all, their actions did resemble the plan of a new world order or a world domination.

It certainly wasn’t in their agenda to do so but it would be rather troublesome to explain their actions, not to mention tipping their enemy off of their plan, although they must have figured it out by now that the organization was planning to bind the governments economically to restrain their actions. If the enemy was crippled by the disability to produce new military force, then they would need to concentrate their forces in several spots, and it was exactly these spots that they are trying to locate. However, the enemy seemed to be lazing off in their actions which greatly frustrate them. Then again, easy prey are no fun.

A knock on the door distracted their discussions.

“Report!” Julius ordered the young man who has opened the door slightly.

“Urgent message from Lady Cameron!” he handed the piece of paper to Gabriel who widened his eyes in respond.

“Have Lord Darling at the phone at once!”

“Are you ready Master Aki?”

“Almost, Leon. Just a bit more,” The boy’s fingers fidgeted on the badly tangled piece of silk.

“Let me help you with that. You should really learn how to do the tie properly.”

“Thanks, you’re the best.”

“My my, I wouldn’t praise a housewifely blood drinker if I’m you.” The teasing voice of a well tanned and muscled figure intruded their conversation.

A few silver daggers flew, “I assure you I can do a lot more than that, brute.”

Shirogane dodged the attacks. “Such a feisty kitten… You sure you don’t want me to tame him for you, boy?”

“Eh?”

“It seems the damn mutt is disturbing you, master Aki. Shall I remove it?”

“I’d like to see you try.” Shirogane taunted, “Here kitty kitty kitty…”

“Why you…!?”

“S..Stop it!” Akihito moved in between them, “both of you!”

“You ordering me, boy?” the two asked simultaneously, their glares ever so intimidating.

“Y… Yes!” Akihito stood firm. He wasn’t some weak little boy. Besides, if he wants to be worthy of the ring he’s wearing, he would have to be strong and confident. “Yes I am. Are you questioning my authority?”

Shirogane whistled while Leon smirked approvingly.

“Of course not, master Aki.”

“Good, let’s go. I’m sure Max is already here.”

“Yes, master Aki.” Leon bowed as Akihito left. He turned towards Shirogane one last time before exiting. “For god’s sake, lycan! Put something on, you have five minutes.”

Shirogane frowned at the close door. What was the point of making him wear a top? He’s going to break out of it anyway when he transform, all he needed was a pair of pants.
“Bah! Whatever that spoilt kitten says…” He grabbed a nearby fitting turtle neck and headed out.

Akihito glanced between the two very annoyed rivals inside the moving limo. It must have been fate’s mischief to have these two natural enemies work together, although this ‘fate’ had the name Jonathan written all over it in bright neon lights.

‘Sasuga ore no baka ani da’ *as expected from my stupid brother.

It didn’t take long for them to reach their destination, a classy, traditional Japanese restaurant in the posh area of Shinjiku. They were welcomed as celebrities by the staffs and politely ushered into the VIP room in the far end where Asami sat waiting.

“You’re fifteen minutes late.” The yakuza stated.

“Bad traffic.” Akihito quickly answered before the other two can say anything.

“Ho~? Lying would cost you, Akihito.”

“I’m not lying.”

“Really?”

“Really.” Akihito grabbed the menu off the table and attempted to ignore his lover.

“…” The golden orbs narrowed.

“What? Alright, fine! Five minutes was traffic and the other ten was these two having a lover’s quarrel.”

“Excuse me!?” Shirogane and Leon exclaimed, almost jumping out of their seats.

“Alright, a rival’s quarrel.” Akihito grinned, mapping out the food he wanted to eat in his mind.

“You have a bad sense of humour, master Aki. Hell would freeze over before I’ll be with the brute. God knows if he’s flea infested.”

“Of course not! I bathe, blood drinker!”

Akihito giggled at their responses. Once he overlook their scariness, it wasn’t that bad to hang around these two.

As the group continued with their chatter, the food they have ordered has finally arrived and they began to enjoy the beautifully decorated delicacies arranged before them. None of them took notice of the insectoid silhouette above them. The tiny figure’s mechanical red eyes locked determinedly on them as it stealthily moved closer, its tiny transmitter like antennas were flicking subtly, as if it was sending every possible detail to its master.

“Mmm! Japanese food is still the best!”Akihito shivered in delight at the exotic taste that invaded his tongue.

“You said it, boy.” Shirogane hummed as he sank his teeth hungrily into the piece of meat between his fingers. “Raw meat is still the best!”

“Could you please stop ravaging the food in such an uncivilised manner?” Leon frowned. The sight of the werewolf gnawing on the piece of red and bloody uncooked beef was disturbing enough, how dare the brute actually stick his fingers back into the main plate to get more after licking his fingers!?

“Let him be, Leon.” Akihito voiced
