Syria's Nusra fighters storm military base in Idlib
Videos uploaded to social media purport to showing fighters belonging the al-Qaeda affiliated Nusra Front storming a government military base in Idlib.
Video logoed 'Manara al-Bayda' appeared to show fighters taking position in the hills near the al-Qarmid military base and shelling.
One unidentified fighter speaks to camera, saying how the fighters took control of the base.
"We now are standing on the hill of Asfen in al-Qarmid camp, with God's help we managed to control it. We were able to advance toward it from behind the vehicles, and we were able to rule over it along with al-Mokhalal barrier and the farmland right next to it," he said.
In another video, a man, purporting to be a suicide bomber, says to camera to avenge the deaths of all Muslims.
"With God's willing, we will avenge for all Muslims who were violated, who were raped in prisons, who were killed by the hands of those Iranians mercenaries and Lebanese Shiites. I swear to God that we will bring joy to each and everyone who lost a relative. We will let pleasure reach the heart of every child who lost his father, or had his mother killed. We will avenge the Sunnis in Syria, God willing," he said before driving off in a tank said to be laden with explosives and in the direction of al-Qarmid
An explosion seen in distance is said to be a tank exploding with the suicide bomber.
A final video is said to show Nusra fighters heading advancing towards the Btata checkpoint in order to storm it and then take the al-Qarmid base.
Reuters is unable to independently verify the content of this video which was obtained from a social media website.
