e will not be using a freight forwarding company. Honda Trading works
directly with the ocean carriers. We will likely use either MOL or NYK.
Our annual ocean rates are being negotiated currently by Honda Trading
Japan, and we don't yet have the new rates to determine who we will use.
Your business will be different from most of our regular business.
Normally, our local Honda Trading office will buy the parts from the
supplier and arrange the shipping. Since DDBVN will sell directly to HTA,
we will have to book the ocean shipping differently. We have two options:
1. HTA makes the booking request to the ocean container. Once we have
the booking confirmation information, we can send it to DDBVN. DDBVN will
need to make arrangements to pick up the empty container at the port, load
it, and ship it back to the port. DDBVN will need to send export
documents to HTA prior to departure.
2. HTA can list DDBVN as an affiliate on our contract. This will allow
DDBVN to make the ocean booking directly to the ocean carrier, using HTA's
contract number. DDBVN will be responsible for providing export documents
to the ocean carrier as well as HTA.
One document requirement we discussed briefly when you visited is the
Importer Security Filing, also known as 10+2. For each ocean shipment ,
we will need to receive the information listed below. We use an online
system with our overseas offices for this information. I believe we could
do the same with DDBVN. I will discuss our options with our Trade
Compliance Department and get back to you with more information.
