At The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®, we provide bimetallic thermometers at the Espresso Station. The purpose of the thermometer is to verify the correct temperature of our products. In order to be sure that the temperature displayed is correct, the thermometer must be calibrated. This document describes the guidelines and procedures to follow in order to effectively calibrate, clean, and troubleshoot the thermometer.(Tại The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®GUIDELINES | The Rules, Facts & Details• Team Members will calibrate the thermometer at least three times per day• The thermometer should be cleaned as needed and will be washed, rinsed and sanitized using the 3-Compartment sink, never in the heat sanitizer• All Stores should have at least three (3) calibrated thermometers at each Espresso Station at all times• The thermometer clips will remain attached to each thermometerTHERMOMETER DIAGRAM |1. GATHER the materials that are necessary to calibrate the Thermometer.• Clean 33-ounce steaming pitcher • Clean, colored bar towel • Pliers• Thermometer(s)2. PLACE thermometer(s) into ice bath (ice and water). NOTE: Ensure the tip of the thermometer does not touch the metal pitcher, as this may affect the temperature reading.3. WAIT until the needle stops moving for 5 continuous seconds. This is the thermometer reading.4. READ the Thermometer. CONSULT the chart below.If …. Then …Thermometer does not hold a reading. DISCARD and REPLACE with a new one. The reading is at 32 degrees Fahrenheit. STOP. You have finished calibrating the thermometer.The reading is above or below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. PROCEED to the next step.5. KEEP the thermometer in the ice bath. HOLD the dial in one hand and GRIP the calibration nut directly underneath the dial with pliers using your other hand. If …. Then …If the temperature is higher than 32 degrees Fahrenheit. TURN the dial counter clockwise to adjust the needle back to 32 degrees Fahrenheit.If the temperature is lower than 32 degrees Fahrenheit. TURN the dial clockwise to adjust the needle to 32 degrees Fahrenheit.6. REPLACE the thermometer at the bar when complete. 7. DISCARD the ice and water from pitcher. STEP 2 – CLEAN THE THERMOMETER Clean the thermometer every four hours or as needed. 1. WASH, RINSE, and SANITIZE the Thermometer in the 3-Compartment Sink. NOTE: Do not allow the thermometer to soak under water. 2. DRY with a clean bar towel or air dry.3. RETURN the thermometer to the Espresso Station.
