The wheelhouse layout is designed for radar navigation by one person (see also 1.4 and 8.10). The operational control consoles are located in centre front of the wheelhouse. Center consoles are of tug boat type, with open front view, consisting of 1 center console (max. 800 mm wide) and 2 side consoles. Final layout of consoles in consultation with the Buyer.A clear line of view between the wing consoles is required.On port side or SB side behind the centre consoles an engineer’s control desk/console, and office/computer/chart table desk is located.Cupboards, kitchenette with coffee maker, sink, cupboard and hot and cold water, storage for charts and nautical publications, small spares and equipment. Possibility to walk around (and in front of) the navigational consoles. Three comfortable chairs (CAB, Recaro or similar) on adjustable pedestals and flush mounted tracks are supplied for the steering control stations and engineer control station. The flush, in deck mounted sliding tracks must be long enough to allow the operational crew to shift them away from the consoles and walk or stand between console and chair. The navigational control consoles enable operation from either standing or sitting position.Heated windows (electric heating/demisting) at all control positions with front and aft vision, double glass elsewhere. High quality marine electrically driven parallel (horizontal) window wipers on all front windows and on aft windows facing a control station (wing stations). Anti-glare sun protection screens. A window washer with spray nozzles must be incorporated in window wiper units. The window washer circuit includes a GRP or stainless steel storage tank of 30 litres with filling cap for anti-freeze, and drain, fitted inside with easy access. A fresh water filling tab is situated above the filling cap to fill the storage tank manually. Driving mechanism, housing, water pipes and fittings of wipers must be made of non-corroding stainless steel material and driving motor must be waterproof. The control and monitoring panel of the window wiper system to be located in the navigation consoles in the wheelhouse. Position in consultation with the Buyer. A board walk with easy access and safety railing to be arranged along the wheelhouse windows outside for cleaning windows and maintenance work on window wipers.Wall- or ceiling panels in way of pipes, wiring, fittings or equipment that require access are easily removable and re-installable without damaging the panels.
The Builder will submit a detailed lay out drawing to the Buyer and Lloyd’s for approval.
Position of wheelhouse control stations and angles of vision according to the requirements of LRS/IL&T and the Buyer.
Remaining space (under wheelhouse) optionally for, storage space and/or technical rooms.
