4.11 Loading of materials stored? High Medium Low
Combustibility of materials stored? High Medium Low
- It makes a little difference between materials and finished products of the Plant which are classified as non-cellulosic fiber - or manufactured thermoplastic in more detail. In terms of combustibility, thermoplastic fiber is harder to ignite than cotton (cellulosic) fiber. When contacting with heat, thermoplastic fiber will melts, ablates, and burn. The required temperature to ignite thermoplastic material (nylon, polyester) varies between 450-570 Celsius degree, versus 255-400 Celsius degree as the case of cotton fibers. Finished products (ATY, DTY) are drawn and textured fiber which means they have been stiffen through drawing process, causing them to lose their ability to evade flames and ablate. Auxiliary materials: carton packaging boxes, wooden pallets are major additional contribution to the fire load within warehouse area./................................................................................
